Easter Sunday

Today after church - we tried a few NEW different things in our home . Since Ashlynn is older - she gets to help with things - so we had her hide the eggs and Jay and I went to find them ( who says kids only get to find eggs? )

Anyhwo - these are NOT regular Easter eggs with candy . They come with a story and symbols of Christs Life . There are 12 all together and when you open them they have something with regards to the Resurrection . There is ALSO a scripture that goes with . So we found the eggs and Ashlynn got to read all the wonderFUL things ;-)

Then this year I gave this child a "EMPTY" Box / Gift with my testimony in it written to her about my love for Christ and the Resurrection and the Atonement !

Of course this morning we had the Easter Bunny find us as well - she was glad to FINaLLy find the last egg .

Jay-Dad even gots a treat !

All - in all it was a wonderFUL Easter Sunday . I am especially grateFUL for this day. I am grateFUL to a Loving Heavenly Father and a AmAZING Elder Brother - Jesus Christ .

A few years back Ashlynn and I were in the Easter Pageant - we LOvED it ! She had begged for years to try out - well , finally i decided she was probably old enough to do the late practices till 10:00 on school nights . So - we tried and O BoY !!! - we are so glad we did ! I am so grateful for the opportunity to be involved in such an AmAZING event ! After many practices and devotionals and REalLY JUST being around these wonderful directors and crew . Our Testimonies GREW ! It was an experience that I will forEVER remember and cherish !

Well , having had this experience and being fortunate enough to be in the pageant that year with hundreds of people and crew working on this event . It MAJORLY helped me to appreciate it sooo much more when we went this year . I am so grateful for the Savior ! For OUR Savior ! And the knowledge we have and are able to read about and learn from His example . I LOVE Him ! with all of my being .

Loved Conference !

It is always so very nice to LEt myself take time out and sit in front of T.V. for 2 days . Plus the ReAL upside is to HEAR and LIsTEN to the counsel of our leaders - OuR ProPHET ! Most times I take notes ... that helps me MUCH better to REtain the thoughts . It seems - i gotta BE HONEST ! some times i feel MoRE overwhelmed by the things i should be doing and aM NoT . But i love to hear the encouraging talks to KEEP Going , KeEP trying , " YOU are doing

GOOD " , stay course .

I'm just going to think of that on this Very DaY ! As I read my notes - i shall post more ... off to conquer the world , make bread , clean and organize my house , count and plan my year supply , be kinder to my friends - family and neighbors , attend the Temple (even tho it's not open today ) pray more , read my scriptures more , serve ALOT more , look for good in others , don't judge , that's just a few things for today :-)

14 layer cake !!!

I have seen this recipe before and have had it for a bit .... so I fiGurED . What the heck ? Saturday afternoon i tried it - it pretty much took the WHoLE afternoon . Who'd known a cake would be so deMANDing with it's time ?

Anywho - these are the steps in order - bake 14 .. well we had a "Issue" with one layer , so it's 13 layers BUT - bake aLL the layers .

Then start the layering process with frosting in between each layer .
It ended up being Quite TALL !

The real TEST is to CuT into the center and see the results ... Each layer is a-spoce to be even ... WELL - oops ! But you get the idea there's a ToN of laYERS !

I know - i can be a bit overboard with my bling / fruuuff / animal print things .

But i gotta say for my WholE WidE life ( k - well -really like only 6 -7 -8 years ) i have wanted soooo bad a crazy - funky phone . It seems every time i get a phone ( usually the least expensive one i can ) -- they never have any CooL covers . SO - cereal - this time i had to look at the covers before I Made ANY life altering decisions . Jay would just laugh and laugh -- he has ONLY had to endure me talking bout it fuuur years . And THIS is the RESULTS !!! I can' t really work the thing all to well - BUT Whhooohooo - it's animal AND then I added some pink ( for spring colors) bling . I'm sure we have to change our colors for fall and go more leopard .

Who says ... that silly things can't make a girl happy for a bit -- at least while she is on HER phone !! then ... one of the BETTER parts -- it was ONLY 50 buckerooos - snaps snaps ! Please don't judge me for being so shallow -- i DO have other parts that are not so " in the shallow " end . hehe

LadyBUG - Lady bug fly away home ... NO wait !! make this your home - eat all our yucky, not welcome , not nice eating out plants bugs !

We have a tradition about this time of year to get our ladybugs and let'em loose ! They will eat the bad bugs and they hang out for a bit .. then sometimes they lay eggs and whhaalaaa - we HAVE more ladies - my fav !!

you release them at night so they don't fly and they eat and munch all night long -- yumm - yumm

It can be a bit freaky .. cause they start to crawl out of the bag and oft crawl up your hand or arm ... i swear i had ladies crawling on me all night ( but not really ... cause i bathed )

They say in one bag is 1750 of them little ladies !
As Ashlynn used to say ... " o Look mom - they got married " - it seems they get out the bag and they all just wanna get married ;-) - i still like to just call it that ...

They are so fun !! specially for little kids to watch -- it has become a family tradition . Even jaydad ventures outside to check them out .

My SpRInG Banner made with Heidi Swapp letters i just downloaded from her site . And of course had to add a tidge of jewelry to the banner !

Sooo - with the creation of the things i got ... Having no idea of the finished project in my mind -- i first added paper to this cone .

Then in no order AT ALL ... i started adding this stuff and made sort-of a tree / bird looking thing . Who knows ?? I just know it's not on my counter anymore calling to me " Shye --- just finish me !!! "

But I did HAVE to add some REally BIG diamonds in the tree AND for the tree TOP !

Friends - to Stephanie !!

About a year or so ago when i released from the Relief Society , there were mixed emotions . Well - the gals I was soooo lucky to serve with organized a dinner together and secretly invited all the ladies I had served with being in the presidency . That night we decided to meet oft and have dinner - lunch - anything - some excuse to get together and enjoy each others company and catch up on our lives . We have done that ... well - not as oft as planned BUT still love the idea JUST the same . So here we are at dinner this last week having a WONDERFUL time . How lucky and blessed and fortunate I was to be able to rub shoulders and serve with such AMAZING Sisters in the gospel . There are still lots missing from this picture that couldn't make it -- and as ALWAYS !!! we hope they make it next time :-)

This last time we wanted to make sure and do BEFORE Stephanie left . She will be moving for a short bit to stay with family while her husband goes off to serve for our Country . Stephanie and Justin !!! how honored and humbled and grateful I feel to KNOW you ! What amazing people you BOTH are and YOUR daughter TOO !! I am in AWE to think of the sacrifice you ALL will make for sooooo many of us who don't even realize it . And THIS is for ALL the MEN and WOMEN who do these heroic acts ALL DAY LONG . I was asked to help decorate the food table for the Stake Young Women's Standards Night ... The theme was "Virtue" and was done in gold . It was a beautiful night and and all the leaders and classes were very nice . We have such AWESOME leaders and they ALL go to such wonderful-ness to help our Young Women REMEMBER who they are !

Ashley loves the scriptures ! She loves to go to firesides and hear what the Prophet has to say to her and what she needs to do in her life. Ashley is very easy to please - she doesn't need to be entertained - she just likes to chill and hang out .You can buy any gift for Ashley and she loves it !

Ashley loves her sisters and her mom and her grandma arlene ! And her grandpa bob and sharon .

Ashley loves cheesy potatoes . She is usually willing to try new foods her wicked step mom makes . - all those weird crazy things she just whips ups with no recipe's and thinks to call them dinners ;-)

Ashley is a go-getter . She knew what college she wanted to go to and had applied and had all the info with applications all set up just like a growing up girl should do .

Merry Christmas Morning

Morning can come so early - but crazy as it may sound this year ... we didn't rise till bout 7:30 - which is late for me , usually I'm the one to wake everyone up ( it could have been the major crash and night-night for shye the night before) But - anywho - the morning was great ! Santa found us - as he always does . And even though sometimes our children are at different homes for different years he knows all those things -

that's what I tell the girls ;-)

Ashlynn is ALL about the naruto stuff and this is from her sisters - which she freaked !!

This is a book we made for dad about why we like / love / admire / care for / him . He's getting to really like those kinds of gifts !

Then the very last gift was one to Jay from Me - it's the gifts from the heart and gifts to others that really help to bring the spirit of Christmas back to Christ . I am grateful for the last few moments of Christmas morning when it was quiet and the letter was read and there were tears in the room by many . I am grateful dad liked his gift and I am grateful to 5 sweet girls who sat and waited and listened and learned patiently . THANK YOU ! What a wonderful memory and happy Christmas (for the most part - right girls ??)

December Concerts

In the month of December with school , ashlynn had 2 concerts . One orchestra - she plays the viola - which is named miss. lola - and then the choir concert . Here are a few photos of the fabulous events !!

And BTW !!!! She is 1st chair viola - which she was excited ...

Here she is with her dad and grandma allred - which she loves both very much !!

This was right before the choir concert - mom was sick and went back to bed :-( - so I had to miss it ... but I know and heard she did GREAT !

There is a little cyst on some sinus somewhere and I need to go see a ENT - then I'm doing some pre-vent stuff for migraines and some therapy stuff ... but ya .

It will all be fine someday .

Wondered if I should post this silly info -- then I remember I'm doing this blog for a book at the end of the year ... So I shall post .

Since this has been taking up my november and december.

I have been really dizzy for the last 3-4 weeks - since I have had vertigo before - that's what I thought it was , but it wasn't going away. Rrrr... - Then about 12 days ago started with a stinkin migraine , that is STILL here !! The level of pain comes and goes - but it's still hanging on .

I went to the doc and he ordered a MRI and to see a neurologist . Welp - I had the MRI yesterday --- AND LET ME TELL YOU -- if you didn't have a head ache going in , you SURELY will have one coming out of the machine . It is so so so LOUD !

I was a bit nervous and got sick to my stomach after .

But as Ashlynn said -- " mom i'm glad your tackling your fears " -- she meant about going into the machine .

So - anywho - here i am with a 10 day old migraine .

Wannnnnnaaa be done !

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving this year was really laid back -- we just got together with family and basically ATE !

These are Ashlynns turkey cookies she made ;-)

So - here is our turkey we made . O M W -- I did a brine (sp?) on this the night before then put it in the roaster for bout 7 hrs. I have NEVER Never had a turkey that was so moist and good - for days !! We did NOT even use a butter knife - much less an electric one . We used a fork to pull the meat off - this is the picture of the breast and it come off in one big piece. This is pretty much the way we will make turkey in this house for the rest of ever ;-)

Happy 7th Anniversary !!

Who'd thought life could be so crazy , good , hard , funny , challenging , fun ? Did I mention challenging ?? Anyways - Jay and I had our anniv Dec 1st .

7 Ways I Love Jay ... Here's to you babe - cause I know how you love attention ( NOT )

1. - You are HOnest !

2. The BEST worker bee i've ever known or seen ;-)

3. You got dance moves babe -- like no other ... ( and those fortunate few who have witnessed it feel pretty dang lucky !! )

4. You always , always -- did I mention always GIVE . That's one of the very first things I noticed about you years ago ... to the man on the side of the street , you give ! Thanks always for that WONDERFUL example .

5. You love your scriptures and read them way more oft than I do ( way )

6. You are a great father and are always willing to learn more bout girly things and open to ideas even though I'm sure they are so UN-necessary and frivolous .

7. You love and honor Your Heavenly Father and Savior . They come first and that is very much a character trait I am drawn to you for .

I love you Jay Petersen !! - Thank you for loving me back !!

So - here is my gift !!! I freaked out !! LOVE IT LOVE IT !! Look at all those power tools . Rooaar !! Can't wait to use them . We had one drill (well - I pretty much bought if for myself ) -- but now look at all of these . Now - all I need to do is glue a bit of bling on and bring out my boas , so they will all match my hammer ;-)

So totally AWESOME !!

Gratitude - Day 30

Day 30 - The Atonement

Today I am grateful for the Atonement because of the Savior . Without the opportunity to forgive and be forgiven none of these things we do , or become , or are ... would even matter - because we would not be able to return home and live with our Heavenly Father again . I am so grateful that I can make mistakes and still have some hope for the future .

I have a bit of mixed emotions today - being the last day of November and this being the last post for my " November Gratitude Log ." All of the other posts have been in no particular order - except for this one - I saved this for last because if there was no atonement , all of the other things would be in vein . I am so grateful for this Act of Love from my elder brother Jesus Christ and a loving Heavenly Father . I will FOREVER and FOREVER be

grateful and humbled !

Day 29 - The Temple

I am especially grateful for the Temple - I love to go to the Temple . It is such a peaceful place for me ... even to walk around on the grounds can be so wonderful . Oft times I just go to sit and journal or read.

It can fill my bucket right back up ;-)

I am very grateful to live so close to the Mesa Temple and be able to attend as often as I want - very very grateful !!

Chocolate Chips

Here I ordered chocolate chips for the year ... Well - maybe almost the whole year . With my cakes and all I might need more , but I ordered 25 pounds ! Yes 25 pounds of them ;-) -- yum -yum . Yes - this says 1000 count !! Whheewww ee

Day 28 - Beautiful Weather

I am grateful today for a gorgeous day !! It is beautiful outside and we have had rain in the last few days and nights , which we need so desperately bad . It is so wonderful to be able to open a window and smell the outside air . I love to leave the windows and doors open for a bit sometimes. I am grateful to live in a state where some of the year we can go outside without either freezing or dieing from heat .

Day 27 - Love

I am grateful for Love - to love and to be loved ! I have different kinds of love in my life - love for people , love of the way they act or the things they may do , love of my stuff ... home , cars , blingy stuff , crafty things , etc.etc. Love for my family ! We all show love in different ways ... we may do something for someone , we may actually say " I LOVE YOU " , we may give gifts , we may show extra respect , we may say extra special kind words. There are many ways to be loved and to show love . And I am grateful I have lot of these in my life - I am very grateful !!
